Iron Oxide Pigment Selection Guide

Iron Oxide Pigments are the most widely used inorganic pigments in the world due to their non-toxic nature, chemical stability, and wide color range. At RawChemicalMart, we offer synthetic iron oxides that provide superior tinting strength and distinctiveness compared to natural grades.

Common Grades & Color Spectrum

Our pigments are categorized by color and chemical structure, suitable for coloring cement, pavers, paints, and plastics.

1. Iron Oxide Red ($\alpha$-Fe₂O₃)

The most versatile series. It ranges from yellowish-red to violet-red.

  • Grade 130: The industry standard medium red, widely used in colored asphalt and concrete bricks.
  • Grade 190: A deep red/maroon shade, often used in high-end ceramic glazes and floor paints.

2. Iron Oxide Yellow ($\alpha$-FeOOH)

Features a needle-like crystal structure. Note that yellow iron oxides are generally stable up to 177°C; for higher temperature plastics, specialized heat-stable grades are required.

  • Grade 313: Standard lemon yellow, excellent for architectural paints and coating emulsions.

3. Iron Oxide Black (Fe₃O₄)

A magnetic pigment with high tinting strength.

  • Grade 330: Standard black, commonly used in terrazzo, cement tiles, and as a colorant for inks.

Key Industrial Applications

Industry Primary Use Key Benefit
Construction Pavers, Stucco, Concrete Blocks Alkali resistant (cement stable) and UV weather resistant.
Coatings & Paints Exterior Paints, Primers High hiding power and excellent dispersion.
Plastics & Rubber Masterbatch, Flooring Thermal stability and migration resistance.

Why Choose RCM Pigments?

Color consistency is the biggest challenge in pigment supply. We solve this by ensuring:

  • Batch-to-Batch Consistency: We control the $\Delta E$ (color difference) value strictly to ensure your end products look the same every time.
  • High Dispersibility: Our micronized grades mix easily into concrete and liquid systems, reducing mixing time and streaking.
  • Expert Shipping: Packed in 25kg multi-ply paper bags or 1000kg bulk bags, secured for international transit.
