Brief Introduction:
Iron Oxide Red, also known as ferric oxide or red iron oxide, is a red or deep red powder with the chemical formula α-Fe2O3. It has a particle size range of 0.5 to 2 μm and a density of 5.24 g/cm³. It melts at 1565°C while decomposing. This pigment is non-toxic, insoluble in water, and exhibits excellent covering power and tinting strength, second only to carbon black. It also demonstrates superior light fastness, heat resistance, alkali resistance, and resistance to dilute acids and corrosive gases. It dissolves only when heated in concentrated acids.
